When Howard Humphrey found his way from England to Canada, he also found his calling. Though he was an enthusiastic entrepreneur who created a company that spanned borders, he will be remembered for his humanity and his humility.
Never one to seek the spotlight, he worked quietly in helping so many people in Durham Region through numerous charities. He changed many people’s lives, taking some under his wing and even into his home. Howard believed we all have a duty to share good fortune. He loved people and he loved life. He grabbed it by the horns and became an avid pilot, a seasoned yachtsman, an automotive enthusiast as well as a generous philanthropist and successful businessman.
He led a full life, though it was cut too short, he passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 15th, 2020.
Howard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to thousands. Everyone who knew Howard knew his laugh. They knew his drive. He was a man on a mission, perhaps aware of the finite time that we all have to shine a light, especially when times are dim.
In lieu of flowers Howard’s family would appreciate donations to the research being done by his good friend Dr. Robert Nam c/o the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation. We will remember Howard fondly today and will gather to celebrate his life when it is safe to do so.
